Dr Ben Murphy: We send our best wishes to Dr Ben Murphy who retired from the local GP practice last week after almost 40 years of service to the local community. Dr Ben is also chairperson of both Cappoquin Community Development Company CLG and Cappoquin Regeneration Company Ltd and in that position has spearheaded many of the improvements which have taken place in the town over the years. Br Ben will be missed by all his patients and colleagues but will maintain his interest in this community through his work in our companies.
Painting Schemes: This week we refer again to the painting scheme being carried out by Waterford City and County Council on the Main Street. Many premises have now been painted and the street is looking extremely well. There are more premises to yet be painted and when complete the town presentation will be greatly improved. This complements the painting scheme being assisted by Cappoquin Community Development Company on the other streets in the town.
Rural Regeneration Development Project: The planning notices for the several projects proposed in the town appeared 2 weeks ago in the local papers. These are indeed exciting proposals for the town. The planning applications are currently open for submissions and we would urge people to actively support these projects by making submissions in favour of the developments proposed. It is important that you make your voices heard on these projects.
Photo from Archive: This week we have another photograph from the launch of Fr Arthure’s book on Fr Fogarty. This was taken on 2nd December 1998.
